"DCH" refers to drivers developed according to Microsoft's DCH driver design principles;

So my PC has dualduties - photo editing using LR, C1, PL6, PS and in my down time it's a gaming PC. I've always used nvidia game ready drivers but am I missing out by not using Studio drivers? Would they make a big difference to my Adobe and other photography apps? I don't have the latest greatest graphics card, just a 1660 Ti OC 6GB

I have the GTX 1660S in my main Win 10 processing machine and the studio drivers always work just fine. The key is to always check the clean install box. I have never seen the need for the GEForce experience so I don't install it.

nVidia may have other ideas. The latest drivers that were released in both forms were 531.681. The Game Ready drivers are 895,580,624 bytes. The Studio, 895,672,720 bytes. I have no clue as to what the additional 92,096 bytes provide. That's about an 0.01% difference.

Back when Topaz PhotoAI came out, first days of it - this was the only time I noticed a difference between game and studio drivers for RTX3080, Topaz app was crashing at processing with game drivers (not randomly, basically it didn't work at all), and worked fine with studio version,

I use the gaming drivers but do photo editing too. The only issue I had once was a problem with MS Flight Simulator 2020 which required me to revert to a previous version. NVidia soon fixed it though. I use NVCleanstall to avoid installing all the NVidia bloatware.

The latest Studio drivers for the mobile 3060 are here . I've always used drivers downloaded from nVidia for my desktop graphics cards, but I believe that the situation for laptops may be dicier. Some laptop makers have used custom device IDs for their nVidia GPUs. As far as I know, the worst eventuality would be that a driver installer downloaded from nVidia might refuse to detect your GPU.

Q: How can I find out what driver version I have?

A: Right-click on your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel. From the NVIDIA Control Panel menu, select Help > System Information. The driver version is listed at the top of the Details window. For more advanced users, you can also get the driver version number from the Windows Device Manager. Right-click on your graphics device under display adapters and then select Properties. Select the Driver tab and read the Driver version. The last 5 digits are the NVIDIA driver version number.

Several days ago I got technical support from Adobe and they tried multiple things to try to make my 1070 GPU perform faster. They loaded both type of drivers and performance wise it made ZERO difference.

Thanks to everyone who has told me my driver version is 517.66. How do I tell if that is the Studio driver or Game Ready? If I go to the NVIDIA Advanced Driver Search, both the Gaming driver list and the Studio driver list skip that number. I am hoping it isn't a custom driver for Dell.

Maybe someone here who has a Dell that came with an nVidia card in it can answer that question. I know that back in the day the Dell nVidia cards weren't exactly the same as the equivalent retail cards which may be why they have their own drivers.

Initially I thought that there may be some hardware/software issue with my PC but after doing extensive testing to my CPU/RAM/Hard disks/PSU - Everything is working normally and no malfunctions was found or hardware issues. All PC my Drivers is updated with latest driver versions. BIOS is up to date with latest version for my Motherboard. OS and Gaming SSD is up to date with latest Firmware versions. Windows 10 is up to date with latest Fall creators update (1709).

I personaly do not like to keep my drivers up to date, I go with the driver that has proven to be stable on my system (382.05). My previous version was 36x.xx and that I only updated because that one had no VR support.

Simplest thing to try is reverting back to an older driver, always do a clean install.

Cause

This bug check is typically related to physical hardware failures. It can be heat related, defective hardware, memory or even a processor that is beginning to fail or has failed. If over-clocking has been enabled, try disabling it. Confirm that any cooling systems such as fans are functional. Run system diagnostics to confirm that the system memory is not defective.
