We learned how 3D printing is useful in the real world, and how we can apply it to FTC as we create custom designed parts to maximize our robots abilities!
At this event we demoed our robot and presented our engineering portfolio to professional engineers and CAD designers at ADCI to receive feedback on our design and presentation.
We received feedback regarding the design of our robot as one of the design engineers was a FRC alumni
We learned how industry professionals use CAD to create accurate design representations towards the planning and design of airports
We learned about how doctors use robotics in their jobs.
We saw robots that are created for medical purposes and space research. We got to see how robotics can be used in the real world.
The tour was very inspiring as it showed us our FTC experiences can lead to helping a multitude of people all across the world!
We learned about how engineering can be used in any field such as food science. We saw pictures and videos of the factory’s machines and processes. The presentation was valuable because we understood different ways we can incorporate what we learn in robotics to careers!
We volunteered at a FTC qualifier in Orange County, Virginia - December 10th
We volunteered as field resetters and queuers.
What we Learned:
How the competition works
How to plan as a team
More ideas on how to intake cones
Potential Game strategies
We mentored another rookie team from Annapolis, MD (Eagles #19642) by answering any questions they had.
We met with the Eagles team multiple times and talked about gracious professionalism, our experience while volunteering and during a qualifier, logistics, and game strategy.
After volunteering at a qualifier, we learned a lot of beneficial information about the logistics of the competition that we were able to share with the Eagles team.
We also assisted them with coming up with a game strategy for competitions. We helped them better understand circuits, ownership, and cycling
We went to an FLL competition to demo our robot to other FLL and FLL Explore teams to inspire them to continue the FIRST program. We also answered multiple questions that kids had regarding our robot and FTC.
We hosted two info sessions about FLL Explore, FLL, and FTC at our local libraries. We started out by showing our robot to those interested in the field of FTC, as well as those interested in starting a team themselves. To help them with this process, we received their contact information so we could potentially mentor these teams. Additionally, during these events, we showed younger kids, whom we recognized were interested in robotics our past FLL robots, to inspire them to join the FIRST program.
At the beginning of the season, we received guidance from Pankaj Oberoi, an experienced coach. He helped us think of new ways to design our chassis: to make it functional, efficient, and durable.
We had an amazing time at our very first qualifier, and were proud to be in the playoffs and be the recipients of both the 1st place Inspire Award and the 2nd place Think Award!
We loved competing at this qualifier! We were happy to be on the 4th alliance, and we received the 1st place Think Award, and the 3rd place Connect Award!
We had so much fun at this qualifier and were proud to be on the 2nd alliance and receive the 1st place Think Award!
We are so proud to have made it to the regional championships this year! We had an amzing rookie season, and are very excited for next year!
