TUESDAY, MARCH 29 RUN - CHEESECAKE CAST - NOTES

ALL/LARGE ENSEMBLE NOTES:

• Don’t let us see you in the wings - sightlines!

• I need more makeup and volume in hair from just about everybody

• Gamblers I need you to slick your hair back, and you should wear your hats!!

• Mission Band - I need WAY bigger physicality in overture -- if you're thinking it's too much, it's probably right! It should feel like a fun, animated introduction into the world -- BIG reaches with the pamphlets, I want to see you really try hard to connect with passerbys

• Mission Band - please exit out wing 2 stage right after overture

• What happened to my crossovers in Follow the Fold BEFORE "to the meadows" folks? We added some people in!!

• ALL gamblers need to slick their hair back -- like Cassidy's or Brayden's!

• Pick up the cues!! Pacing is everything in this show - keep it snappy!

• ALL - entrances on stage are taking too long - we aren't used to this size stage yet... you need to anticipate that your walking in will take a little longer and enter sooner

• Gamblers - Spacing in "Oldest Established" clump - be aware

• Hot Box Girls - on crossover with Adelaide - please go farther Stage Left so she can say "order me a tuna fish and rye" without having to face the back

• Audience in Bushel and a Peck - more life, more audible reactions please!!

• Adelaide and Hot Box Girls - you can break the 4th wall in Bushel and a Peck, and sing to audience!!

• Gamblers - Please see Katie Jo about red carnations on your suits for that scene

• Gamblers - I need MUCH more dramatic swoop step out before Big Jule's entrance

• Gamblers - pick up the pace/cues!!

• We are going to bring in the mid for gamblers "he's a jolly good fellow" scene so we can make the Havana change happen - we may need to relook at some spacing on this - gamblers be aware!

• Havana dancers - I need bigger audible reactions in the fight part of Havana - "oh NO!" "Get her!" "Ahh!"

• You are responsible for moving tables/chairs/Sit Down benches, cast!! Please be ready. The crew is working really hard and needs your support!

• We need some more boys in the Hot Box scenes - Jude can we add you into Mink as well?

• Hot Box Girls - I need WAY more face/excitement in Mink! Remember you are PERFORMING in the scene -- extra energy!

• Hot Box Girls - Don't look at the floor - keep face up when dancing

• Gamblers that bring on the USL crates for sewers scene - get those set behind the mid before the song starts - during Arvide/Sarah's scene

• Gamblers spacing in Crapshooters! Please be aware!! Check for center, and keep V formations open

• Gamblers - everyone please look at Act 2 scene 3 lines, we are still struggling here

• Gamblers - pick up cues and add adlibs "come on roll" "yeah we're ready Masterson" etc. in dead space before Luck Be a Lady

• Gambler Crossovers after Luck Be a Lady - who goes with Brynlee? Also, please bring these crossover down stage of the bench

• Benches for Sit Down need to be READY to go during "Sue Me" scene - that took way too long gamblers, be ready!!

• Who sets the chair in Sit Down scene? Lets take that more left please

• Mission benches - need to exit Stage Right now after Sit Down

• Wedding garland holders - let it be the full length strung out and then let's push back the move to taking them off stage when the song begins of "The Happy Ending" and then just come out and join the song as soon as you can

• Watch spacing/positioning in "The Happy Ending" - Sophia and partner need to be back a line

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

• Brayden - come all the way, farther downstage for sigh at top of show in overture

• Jude - don’t totally freeze on pick pocket = open that up, keep talking to gamblers

• Allie - be aware of spacing in Fugue -- need to move farther Left once you go to the center trio bit

• Josh - looks like we are tickling the drum! Ha! Play the drum with full hand please!

• Griffin - you are adorable!! Keep energy and volume up throughout!

• Griffin slick hair back

• Nathan slick hair back

• Liam - let's try hair in a ponytail under the hat and see what that looks like Wed night

• Jude - still project, even with a mic! You are so great!

• Nathan - when you reference "Radio City Music Hall" can you gesture behind you, since we have that on on our drop!

• Nathan, Benny, Nicely - pick up those cues in your first scene together

• Nathan - stage whisper the line "provided it's a bet there's no chance of losing!"

• Nicely & Griffin - let's cut the walk/turn around together bit ... it's not working!

• Jude/Harry - enter sooner for baby bit with Nathan

• Sky - still want more of the "Cider" story -- out to the audience, deliver to us, and then check in with Nathan

• Sky - keep hand on Nathan's tie until he says "no bet" - then you can let go

• Nathan - make sure it's really clear who you are referring to when you say "I name her" about Sarah

• Sky - I know you haven't had a "no peace to the wicked" sign to practice with yet, but know that it will be either on the desk or the brick wall, so make sure you reference towards wherever it is, not old blocking on that!

• Sky - felt a little stiff/stuck on some lines in "I'll Know" scene - please refresh!

• Sarah - let's try curling hair/half up half down, some more volume around the face

• Adelaide - we need to pin some hair back in the front of that wig so we don't lose your face!

• Sarah - so much better on the AHH sound in "I'll Know"

• Sarah & Sky - we need to hold the kiss longer through the applause after "I'll Know" - then slap after the applause dies down

• Cassidy - keep up the energy/bite of Joey Biltmore! You had it for the second half of the scene after I called it out - need that from the beginning!

• Adelaide - let's take the flowers out of the hair after Bushel and a Peck for the robe scene down right

• Nathan - "we had a WHAT?" - is funny but getting a little too high/screechy

• Adelaide we are working on shortening your robe!

• Lana - Fully FINISH the sentence "I pity you." then take a beat and see earring -- we're still missing the end of that line

• Adelaides - need big red lips and big lashes please!

• Isaak - there's an umbrella for your crossover with Hunter - please use it!!

• Benny - go to the telephone booth after duet with Liam in "Guys and Dolls"

• Benny and Nicely - so cute in "Guys and Dolls" -great job!

• Allie - we lost your note on the ending of "Guys and Dolls"

• Sam - I need WAY bigger energy for the general! Enter with PURPOSE and INTENT please!! I need to see you be assertive in this role, I know you can!

• Ellie and Allie - you split center for line when Brannigan enters

• Sarah and Sky - let's try a big fall into him kind of kiss at end of Havana - the peck thing was funny, but isn't working anymore

• Sarah - we are working on getting you a cardigan for the scene after Havana - once you're back in New York, so we can show that you've "cleaned up" - it's the next day

• Sky - let's check in about your hat ! I like the red for Havana, but would like a darker more neutral one for you for the rest of the show

• Allie - plant those feet and just yell "COPS!"

• Maya - I need your waiter lines louder please!

• Nicely - can you wear some black socks please!

• Maya/Danielle - wondering if we can try a little bit of makeup to age you a bit, or maybe a little gray in the hair? Let's chat options tonight!

• Maya- you sound really beautiful on "More I Cannot Wish You"

• Maya - open up the More I Cannot Wish You scene/song a bit more so that the audience on SR side doesn't lose your beauty!!

• Sky - more diction in Luck Be a Lady - when you focus on that, your vocals come to life!!

• Anya M - thank you for helping to create levels, but just go to a squat in Luck Be a Lady freeze - not all the way to the ground

• Nathan - notice the gamblers who are crossing over during Adelaides line "I've completely gotten you out of my mind, you can't upset me anymore"

• Adelaide - booty short lines show through the purple dress, can we try a leotard maybe?

• Nathan - get down on your knees on last line "I Love you!" with hat

• Sam - we keep losing the line "what a remarkable young man" -- please check and review

• Isaak - "as I can prove by my record" line - mixing up words

• Brayden - after you do the finger/hat bit with Nathan and cross stage right, you can just hold the hat, you don't have to keep it on your finger!

• Sarah - wait longer to enter before Marry the Man scene, let Adelaide come in and sit down and be sad at the bench for a second

• Sarah and Adelaide - Marry the Man is ADORABLE - you are so cute together!! Keep the strength of the last line vocally! - and that's the climax of the great plan you just came up with!! Don't let it die at the end.

• NOTE FOR ALL: Ensemble numbers are just sounding sloppy/timid - add more diction, review your parts to fix

• NOTE FOR UNMIC'ED CAST: the house really swallows all the sound so I can barely hear y'all on stage - PLEASE PROJECT!!

• NOTE FOR MIC'ED CAST: your voice is now amplified - which means your harmonies HAVE to be spot on!! please review your parts!!!

TECH RUN – 3/29/22

• FUGUE - SO MUCH BETTER!!!!

• FOLLOW THE FOLD – Maya, ask Danielle to show you how to swing the bell

• Griffin we lost the accent after Fugue!

• OLDEST ESTABLISHED – Ensemble is SUPER quiet! Nathan, PLEASE practice that cue timing - everyone watch nathan for that acapella section! Notes for the acapella section were incorrect for the show run so please review!!

• Follow the fold reprise – no bell arvide, too loud over the dialogue

• I’ll know – closed off on chorus, create more space, just like you do on the vocal finish. Connor – more diction, especially at “stop and stare face in the throng”

• Vocal finish – PERFECT.

• BUSHEL – Aly – chin down on barrel and a heap, we're reaching here a bit too much

• LAMENT – Mix got a little bit too poppy/contemporary

• GUYS AND DOLLS – TIMING SO MUCH BETTER IN THE BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!! Fix timing on “love”. Allie – if we’re gonna speak sing, don’t over do it too much, Allie lost your note on the ending

• Aly – we lost accent a bit in jolly good fellow scene

• Bell - Don’t start before your music, wait for that cue so that pause isn't so awkward

• My time of day – a little flat, nick Jonas vocal breaks, needs to be more focused, timing issues on entrances are still not fixed. NEED to be fixed by next run.

• Never been in love – connor - wine needs to be same placement as the the subsequent LOVE – given this note multiple times.

• MEGHAN GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS

• MINK – don't forget our slide on REMOVE, mix got a little pop/contemporary again

• Aly – we lost the accent in scene after mink

• MORE I CANNOT WISH YOU – beginning section sounded a little timd – need to find balance between softer dynamic and timid. Some phrases sound a bit unfinished, don’t make every When we get to "music I can wish you", should be fully opened up at this point, still sounds closed off.

• LUCK BE A LADY – connor - DICTION, “STICK” needs more ummphhh, BOYS REVIEW THE HARMONIES!!! MIC’ED GIRLIES THANK YOU!!! ACED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• SUE ME – track still wrong, working on fixing. Nathan - NO SQUEAKING on the Adelaides. Ending note was right!

• SIT DOWN – ensemble is REAL sloppy on this one. track needs to be louder, liam fix timing on “sailed away”, don’t let hat distract you from the song, sam hold out that note, or at least until arvide and sarah join in. break between it is awkward

• GUYS FOLLOW THE FOLD – UNISON melody (mission band do not sing harmonies here)

• MARRY THE MAN – SO GOOD. SO SO SO SO SOSOS OSOSOSOSOSOSOOSSOOOOO GOOD. (Meghan, the really low stop was a lil bit funnier), make sure the last tomorrow is SUPER STRONG

• Happy Ending - Stronger cut off at the end!
