“The WILD women I met at GDDI injected me with an energetic power to go back and raise awareness about policies and programs and to include people with disabilities in every step, starting from designing the program to implementation. I will try to lead the efforts within my organization to advocate for disabled people, especially women and children. I am so proud to be part of this experience.”
- GDDI participant
At GDDI, you will gain insight on including disabled women straight from the experts: disabled women themselves.
GDDI co-convenes with the Women's Institute on Leadership and Disability (WILD), MIUSA's signature leadership program for disabled women coming from 25 different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
Together, you'll devise strategies for including disabled women and girls as a cross-cutting issue in thematic areas such as: peace-building, climate change, human rights, poverty reduction, political participation, education, economic development, health, emergency response, violence prevention, youth development and leadership, and other topics.
Following the event, international development actors will gain new knowledge about disability-related accommodations, country-specific resources, contacts for future collaboration, and strategies to bolster their organization's commitment to inclusion.
