National Dance Institute
Gonzales Community School has been a proud participant of the National Dance Institute since the program begin in Santa Fe many years ago.
Currently, GCS third and fourth grade students participate in the annual program. Students participate as part of their regular curriculum and NDI is in addition to physical education classes.
The benefits of students participating in NDI are immense. To name a few, students learn physical and mental discipline while learning dance routines, building confidence, exposure to hands-on arts and culture, and learning to work on a team.
The weekly practices culminate with an end-of-year, Broadway-quality performance at the Dance Barns each May. The annual performance is the hottest ticket in town.
All GCS students attend the annual performance and many students continue studying dance at NDI for many years following their initial exposure as a GCS third or fourth grade student.
Although NDI raises money to support their program and our students, schools are also asked to contribute a portion of the cost to help pay for instructors. With Mr. Lee's encouragement and support, GCS PTA believes that NDI is a valuable educational experience for our students and eliminates financial barriers by raising money so all GCS students may participate in NDI. The current cost for GCS third and fourth grade students to participate in NDI is $3,000 or $25 per student. Please click to donate for GCS students to participate in NDI.
