If you're a GCRJ member, engage with monthly prompts which can be found on Jamboard (see Newsletter email for more details) and with more regular (daily-weekly) prompts on Slack. See prompts below!

Prompt 1: a research program that is attempting to tailor medicine to the individual by accumulating a universal health database of people’s health and genetic information. Their goal is to recruit one million people in the US in order to understand how biology, environment, and lifestyle affect health.
- What are your thoughts on this project?
- Do you think this might be a step in the right direction when it comes to diversifying databases?
- Do you think this project’s efforts into tailoring how they present genetic information to different communities are enough?
Prompt 2: We are all about promoting self-education, both in genetic counselling issues as well as racial issues, so why not make that the theme of this week and this upcoming break?
- What is a resource or media outlet you are going to learn from or want to share with the slack channel for this break? (this can include articles, podcasts, books, shows, etc.)
OR
- What is a goal you have for this break with regards to racial issues in genetic counselling?
We will start by sharing a new podcast we discovered called “In Those Genes” about discussing genetics through the lens of black culture. An interview with the creator, Dr. Janina Jeff, can be found here.
