GC-MS to Society
The MKU- RUSA 2.0 funded GC-MS facility is a fundamental but essential spectroscopic analytical technique for basic research. The knowledge of the Gas Chromatography and Mass-spectrometry has begun in the Under Graduate curriculum. Students started to learn about the fundamentals and application of GC-MS techniques in the early semesters. Though they gained theoretical knowledge, but experimental understanding and hands-on training only full fill their scientific thrust. To popularize the fundamentals of chromatographic techniques and to inculcate the GC-MS fundamentals, working principles and it application, various scientific activities and hands-on training programs are being conducted.

Skill Development Workshop
on
‘Separation and Characterization Science: Application of Chromatography Techniques and Mass Spectrometry’
To teach the importance and application of Gas Chromatography and Mass-spectrometry (GC-MS) and High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), a three-day skill development workshop was conducted with the support of MKU-RUSA 2.0 on November 28-30, 2022 at School of Chemistry, Madurai Kamaraj University. Totally 50 participants (limited seats) from various academic and research institutions have actively participated. This skill development workshop was conducted with a lecture and hands-on demo. Analytical experts from Toshvin Analytical Pvt Ltd, Chennai(for GC, GC-MS) and Spincotech, Chennai(for HPLC) delivered lectures and gave hands-on training in both GC-MS and HPLC. On the final day Dr. B. Jebasingh, Associate Professor Karunya University, gave extensive knowledge on Liquid chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and Flash Chromatography.
