Things to Note:
Just as a face-to-face course requires 3-5 hours per week of class time and out-of-class time, online courses require 3-5 hours of asynchronous dedicated work time in addition to regular homework time. The total estimated commitment is 5-6 hours a week.
Classes are held one evening every week and last 60-90 minutes
Students will spend 80% of their time engaged in work through Schoology or other web-based material. The other 20% of the time is engaged with their teacher and peers in a live virtual session or taking online assessments.
The FCPS Online Campus does not offer any self-directed courses. All Online Campus courses have fixed deadlines, daily/weekly assignments, and face-to-face exams.
Students enrolled in a Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) may enroll in up to 2 credits as part of their standard 7 high school credits without any fees or tuition. FCPS students wishing to take an 8th credit will pay a fee ($680) which is reduced for free/reduced lunch recipients.
