On the 15th of September, the CANAVIA pilot school whose main base is located at the Maspalomas Aerodrome, welcomed its 22 new students of the pilot course. These students belong to the 5th promotion, we wish them all the best in this new adventure.

Last 7th of September TV CANARIA interviewed the crew of the Guardia Civil Helicopter. On the occasion of the long awaited festivity of the patron saint of El Pino, which is supervised and coordinated from the air by the State Security Forces and Corps. The subject of the interview was about recommendations and guidelines to follow when attending such a multitudinous festival, as is the pilgrimage of Teror.
New Aircraft based on GCLB
Last Friday 11th of August two new aircrafts, acquired by CANAVIA the school of pilots, landed at the Aerodrome. These two beautiful Tecnam P2008 arrived from Naples (Italy) with 2 instructors and 2 students, students of the ATPL Integrated course of the school. With these, 11 aircraft are now part of the pilot academy.
Davorka, pilot in command, has arrived from Germany and after a stopover in Lanzarote, visited GCLB to refuel and then headed for El Hierro. His goal is to reach the south of Africa.
The Maspalomas- El Berriel aerodrome is being the base of operations for up to six helicopters participating in the extinguishing of the @IFTejeda fire. The Aerodrome Manager, with the personnel and crews in charge of tackling this fire, have coordinated to be able to carry out this operation with maximum safety and efficiency.
Last 28th June, one of the brand new Camcopter S-100 drones of the iSAR project took to the skies for the first time from Maspalomas Aerodrome, carrying out the firts coordination of a Rescue RPA from an aerodrome with general aviation operation without interrupting it.
As Aerodrome Managers, we are proud and grateful for the trust placed in us to carry out this project.
May 2023. Training given to all Aerodrome users with the aim of ensuring compliance with our Accident/Incident Action Plan, including an interactive emergency drill.
Santiago and Elena visited us last Wednesday. They came from the Aerodrome du Jarde (GCAT) and made a stop at our aerodrome with a beautiful Tecnam P96-G. Thanks for choosing us, we hope to see them again soon!
On Saturday Oliver visited us with his private plane, a beautiful Bristell NG5 Speed Wing. These aviation enthusiasts flew around the Canary archipelago and parked at our aerodrome for one night. The next destination for these pilots is Africa, we wish them happy flying and hope to see them again soon.
Aerial Works from GCLB
The prestigious company Sky Helicópteros, founded in 1992 and based in Mallorca, Madrid and Extremadura, visited us this February to carry out aerial work in Gran Canaria.
The Rotorsun helicopter with registration number EC-EUT visited us in February 2023. Using the aerodrome as a base of operations for their work at Endesa, where they have carried out the technical, visual, thermographic and hydrographic inspection of the Canary Islands.
GES Training Course
November 2022. The Air Unit of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), which is based at Maspalomas Aerodrome, provided this training in order to guarantee safety in the daily operations shared with the users of the aerodrome.
Aerodrome First Aid and Emergency Course
October 2022. This course for all aerodrome users aims to ensure compliance with our Accident/Incident Action Plan, including an interactive emergency drill.
Introductory flights
May 2022. Young Ambassadair students fly in Gran Canaria and Tenerife thanks to the initiation flights of the CANAVIA pilot school.
May 2022. The three Spirit in the Sky helicopters have left Maspalomas Aerodrome today. After having them with us for several weeks for their filming work for the film project they were carrying out, we have been able to see first hand their incredible operation.
In February 2022 the Danish seaplane company Nordic Seaplanes visited the Canary Islands, using the Maspalomas Aerodrome after test operations aimed at creating a new amphibious transport airline between the ports of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
