This program is run entirely by volunteers, and we have many opportunities for you to help!

The 2024 registration fee is $85.00 per child, and a $3 nonrefundable processing fee.

Players will receive a team t-shirt and end of season memento

Teamwork, community, and soccer basics

Our programs provide a fun and enjoyable introduction to the game of soccer. It's also a fabulous community connection-- children are placed on teams with other children who attend (or will attend) their elementary school. It's a great way for kids (and grown-ups!) to make new friends.

The first half of each one-hour program is devoted to skill-building, while the second half-hour is a scrimmage with another team. We focus on teaching a variety of basic skills while encouraging teamwork. Children will develop self-esteem and confidence in a nurturing environment. Team sizes are small, with a maximum of 10 players per team. This format allows each child optimal time for on-field practice and game rotations. Space is limited to 80 children per league.

Volunteers Needed

GCKS is 100% volunteer-run... We need you!

Adult volunteers serve as GCKS head coaches, assistant coaches, field set up volunteers, and administrators in order to run this program. No experience is required; we provide all instructions and coaching tips.  All you need to do is show up each week and have fun with your child(ren) and your team. You can sign up as a volunteer when you register your child for soccer. It’s truly a fun and rewarding experience. Please see our volunteer page and contact us with any questions: gcksnewton@gmail.com

For the fall season, specific needs include:

No previous coaching experience required. We aim for 2 coaches per team and provide suggested activities; you bring enthusiasm, a basic understanding of the game, and patience.

Please don't let occasional travel/commitments stop you from volunteering!

Commit to only 1 or 2 Saturdays (or more if you want!), available to arrive 15 mins. early (Pre-K League) or stay 10-15 minutes after (K league) to help setup or put away goals and cones, per the instructions from our Fields Commissioner

Compile contact information for all coaches in both leagues and communicate with coaches about expectations, resources, suggestions and maintain open communication throughout the season.

Create schedule for field set up and break down and organize parent volunteers

GCKS vs. Kindergarten Soccer

There are two kindergarten soccer programs in Newton. Please make sure you intend to register for Garden City Kindergarten Soccer before you sign up. Below is an overview of some differences between the kindergarten soccer programs.   All are welcome in both leagues!

Players in grades 1 and up may register for Newton Youth Soccer or Newton Girls Soccer.
