An innovative approach to explore the link between exposure to chemical pollutants and the risk of endometriosis
The impact of environmental pollutants on endometriosis, a chronic inflammatory disease of the uterine mucosa, remains largely unknown, although this disease affects 2 to 4 million women in France alone. The EndoxOmics-β project intended to set up and pilot an integrative approach to explore the link between chemical pollutants and endometriosis using high-throughput mass spectrometry platforms. The results have revealed relationships between endogenous markers associated with endometriosis and some chemical exposures, providing insight into the potential underlying causal mechanisms.
