Gavin was born and raised in the East end of Toronto. He grew up with an older brother and sister and several different pets. Gavin's parents are both retired and living in Toronto. His sister lives in Montreal and his brother lives in Mississauga.
Gavin attended Queen's University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Music degree, Bachelor of Arts degree (English - Language and Literature) and a Bachelor of Education degree. While living in Kingston, Gavin met his met his wife. They were married just after graduation and began their life together.
It was difficult getting a teaching job in Ontario, in the early 2000s, so Gavin and his wife decided to look overseas. They looked in Asia, Europe and the Americas before settling on Ecuador, South America. They lived and worked in Quito, the capital city, for three years before returning to Canada.
After Ecuador, Gavin moved to a small town in the Eastern townships of Quebec. He found work at a private school, teaching music and history. Though happy to be back in Canada, Stanstead Quebec proved to be too far away from family and friends. Gavin moved once again, this time, back to Ontario.
They looked all across Ontario and eventually fell in love with Belleville - The Friendly City! Gavin began working with the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board and together, he and his wife bought a house and welcomed their daughter into the world
Longing for a life outside of a city, Gavin and his family moved to Stirling, Ontario where they celebrated the birth of their twins. Gavin and his wife, both teachers, live a very busy life. Between work and family there is never a dull moment but, they are always ready for the next adventure.
