In 2024, I moved from Chennai to Boston to pursue a Master’s in Robotics at Northeastern University, eager to expand both my technical expertise and hands-on experience. Over the past year, I’ve engaged in intensive, practical robotics projects that bridge perception, planning, and autonomous systems.
Some highlights include:
SLAM & 3D Mapping: Implemented RTAB-MAP with a ZED Mini camera to generate real-time, accurate 3D indoor maps of complex environments.
Multi-Sensor Fusion: Engineered pipelines for GPS-IMU fusion and camera-LiDAR temporal calibration, enabling precise localization and trajectory estimation.
Computer Vision & Deep Learning: Built and deployed a lightweight U-Net for low-light image enhancement, combining denoising and exposure correction, benchmarked against state-of-the-art baselines.
Robotics Foundations: Deepened understanding of Kalman filters, Bayesian estimation, state-space representations, Lie Groups, and manipulator kinematics to support robust autonomous system design.
Beyond technical work, exploring new environments drives me, whether navigating robot perception challenges or the vibrant streets of Boston, my first experience living independently. I’m an avid walker, often finding that physical exploration sparks mental breakthroughs. I also love listening to music, which fuels creativity and helps me focus during intense problem-solving sessions. This adaptability, coupled with my curiosity for travel and embracing diverse cultures, shapes the perspective I bring to every project and collaboration.
