Security in the smart grid is markedly complicated than typical networks. We need to ensure data privacy and integrity not only from adversarial entities, but also from legitimate network users. You wouldn't want your neighbor snooping in on your energy consumption data, would you? We designed methods to tackle both these use-cases: protecting data from legitimate network users, as well as detecting and locating a potential intrusion in the smart grid distribution network to guarantee data privacy, integrity, and availability, and to also potentially prevent energy theft.
