Apart from potentially doubling throughput of point-to-point communication links, full-duplex operation can be used in various other scenarios, such as, improving relaying efficiency in multi-hop relay networks, providing physical layer security with simultaneous data reception and jamming, solving the hidden-node problem without the conventional RTS-CTS message exchange, and detecting packet collisions to aid a CSMA-CD operation. While all these benefits are seen in any communication system, wired or wireless, we developed full-duplex based solutions that solve some of the major issues faced in today's wireline networks, namely traffic handling to alleviate power line network congestion, and ensuring electromagnetic compatibility in a heterogeneous communication environment.
