1. Introduction
Welcome to GaugeLens (the App), a multi-tool sensor application developed and operated by an independent developer (we, us, or our). GaugeLens provides GPS speedometer, compass, altitude, elevator speed, and spirit level functionality using your device's built-in sensors.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights. We are committed to a privacy-first design: GaugeLens does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on external servers.
2. Data We Access and Why
GaugeLens accesses the following device data solely to provide its core features:
Location (GPS)
• Used by: Speedometer (speed, distance, address display), Compass (GPS-based altitude fallback)
• Precision: Fine location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
• Storage: Never stored outside your device. Processed in real time and discarded immediately after display.
• Transmission: Never transmitted to any server, including ours.
Barometric Pressure Sensor
• Used by: Elevator Speed (vertical speed calculation), Compass (pressure-based altitude)
• Storage and Transmission: Processed locally in real time. Never stored or transmitted.
Accelerometer / Gyroscope
• Used by: Spirit Level (device tilt angles)
• Storage and Transmission: Processed locally in real time. Never stored or transmitted.
Magnetometer (Compass Sensor)
• Used by: Compass (magnetic heading)
• Storage and Transmission: Processed locally in real time. Never stored or transmitted.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
GaugeLens does not collect any of the following:
• Your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifier
• Your precise or approximate location history
• Device identifiers such as IMEI, Android ID, or advertising ID (beyond what AdMob collects - see Section 5)
• Sensor readings or measurement history beyond what is stored locally on your device
• Financial or payment information (handled entirely by Google Play)
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
4. Local Storage
User preferences (speed units, distance units, max gauge speed, etc.) are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the App.
5. Third-Party Services
GaugeLens uses the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:
• Google AdMob: serves advertisements to free-tier users. AdMob may collect your device advertising ID and related signals. You can opt out via Android Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization. AdMob Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Google Play Billing: processes all subscription and one-time payments. We never receive, see, or store your payment card details. Google Play Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
6. Location Data - Special Disclosure
GaugeLens requests ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission to provide accurate GPS speed and distance readings. This location data is:
• Used exclusively within the app on your device
• Never uploaded to any server or shared with any third party by us
• Not stored in any log, database, or file by the App
• Not used for advertising targeting or profiling
You may revoke location permission at any time in Android Settings > Apps > GaugeLens > Permissions. Revoking this permission will disable the Speedometer and GPS-based Compass features.
7. Advertising
Free-tier users see advertisements provided by Google AdMob. By using the free version of GaugeLens, you acknowledge that AdMob may collect device-level identifiers for advertising purposes as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Users who purchase any premium plan (weekly, monthly, or lifetime) do not see advertisements.
8. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
GaugeLens offers the following premium options, all processed entirely by Google Play:
• Weekly subscription: $0.49 per week (auto-renewing)
• Monthly subscription: $1.29 per month (auto-renewing)
• Lifetime Access: $6.99 one-time purchase (non-renewing, permanent)
We do not receive, process, or store any payment or billing information. All transactions are handled by Google Play.
9. Children's Privacy
GaugeLens is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App and personal data has been collected, please contact us.
10. Data Security
Because GaugeLens does not transmit personal data to external servers, there is no server-side personal data at risk of breach. Sensor data is processed entirely on-device and discarded after display. Local preferences stored via SharedPreferences are protected by Android's standard application sandbox.
11. Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store personal data on external servers, there is typically nothing to access, export, or delete on our end. Any locally stored preferences can be cleared by uninstalling the App or via Android app data management settings.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated Last updated date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
