Before saving the SVG, select all objects and use the menu, Paths->"Objects to Path".

Create GCode using GatorCAM.

Always verify / visualize your GCode before sending to the CNC machine.

I use CAMotics (available for free) during my CAD and CAM workflow to visualize the result.
