Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Gatalop! We could not make the event happen without the efforts of our many members and friends who donate their time to ensure a successful event for all.
Here is some more information about the various jobs:
Sit at the Troll (registration) table and check attendees in. Fill in forms, check ID, have attendees sign waivers as needed, and provide site tokens. Run cash register and handle money. Troll volunteers act under the auspices of the Baronial Exchequer and the Event Steward. Report directly to the Troll tent outside the fort 5-10 minutes before start of shift. 5pm-midnight Friday and 8am-2pm Saturday.
Stand/sit at the fort gate (bring your own chair) and check for site tokens. ALL attendees must display a site token in order to be admitted at all times. From 9am-5pm, members of the public may attend, but must be directed to the fort office to pay the fort entrance fee and must show their receipt to gain reentry. The gate is staffed 24 hours a day during the event. Security volunteers act under the auspices of the Constable and the Event Steward. Report directly to the gate 5-10 minutes before start of shift. 5pm Friday-12pm Sunday, variable shifts.
Sit under the Newcomers Point pavilion inside the fort. Assist people attending their first event: sign out loaner garb, provide event fee reimbursements out of the Osprey Newcomers Fund, and answer questions. Sell items (excess loaner garb, T-shirts, feast gear, etc.) as directed and handle cash. Answer questions from the general public during fort operating hours. Newcomers Point volunteers act under the auspices of the Baronial Chatelaine and the Event Steward. Report directly to the Newcomers Point pavilion 5-10 minutes before start of shift. 8am-4pm Saturday
Assist with unloading/loading the Baronial trailer and setting up structures such as the Baronial pavilion, kitchen, fighting list, etc. Heavy lifting/carrying required.
