Synthesis of Heterocyclic Compounds
Urazoles are important compounds in their own right, but also serve as precursors to the highly reactive triazolinediones that have been used to make dinitrogen containing compounds as shown below.
Traditional methodology for synthesizing urazoles, however, relied upon the use of isocyanates (R-NCO) which are highly toxic compounds that are no longer readily available commercially
Our group has been working on ways in which to synthesize urazoles via alternative, more sustainable, methods
