Project Description:
For this project I designed a computer using pcpartpicker.com. My goal was to design a rather powerful and useful computer for the typical college student, and complete the build for under $1,000. The purpose of the project was to familiarize ourselves with the different working components of a computer, and how they interact to make a computer work.
Details of my Build:
This computer sports functionality, powerful components, and a budget friendly price! This computer includes a powerful Intel i7 core processor, capable of handling multiple programs for those lengthy research projects. It also includes a 1TB solid state memory drive, 16 GB of RAM, and a 21.5" high resolution monitor.
Lessons Learned:
This lesson taught me a lot about computers. First and foremost, how expensive they can be! I also learned a little more about what components go into computers, and what their function is. I learned that memory is stored on a physical component and that a solid state memory drive runs more efficiently than its predecessor, the disk drive. I also learned that having a processor with more cores will allow a computer to handle more programs at once provided that the RAM is also sufficient to keep up.
