The Garretson Ball Association (GBA) is the primary volunteer-led organization responsible for managing youth summer sports in Garretson, SD. While high school and Legion baseball operate under school and veteran organizational umbrellas, the GBA focuses on the developmental and recreational foundation for the town’s athletes.
The association’s main goal is to provide a structured environment for youth to learn the fundamentals of baseball and softball. They manage the logistics that allow hundreds of local kids to take the field each summer, focusing on:
Skill Development: Creating a pipeline of talent that eventually feeds into the Blue Dragons (High School) and the American Legion Post #23 programs.
Community Engagement: Coordinating with local parents, coaches, and the city to maintain equipment and facilities.
Inclusivity: Offering programs for various age groups and skill levels, from introductory T-ball to competitive travel-style play.
Our youth programs focus on the fundamentals: hitting, fielding, and having fun. Designed for boys and girls just starting their baseball journey, these leagues emphasize community involvement and building a love for the game.
Age Groups: Ranges from T-ball (ages 5–6) through competitive youth levels (up to 12U).
Registration: Typically opens in late winter/early spring.
