A simple but highly effective solution to the problem of bird strikes on windows, Acopian Bird Savers, or Zen Curtains, are simply lengths of nylon paracord spaced every three or four inches hung on the outside of windows. Other solutions, such as hawk decals never worked well for us. The Zen Curtains seem to break up the reflections of the surrounding desert that a bird sees and has cut the number of strikes on protected windows effectively to zero. They are easy to make (we did) or you can buy them pre-made to order at the referenced link. The view from inside is quite pleasing, and not at all distracting.
