Our research group is dedicated to exploring the molecular design and self-assembly of biomolecules, with a strong focus on applications in healthcare, biotechnology, and materials science. We specialize in the development of collagen-mimetic peptides, which serve as potential alternatives to natural collagen for biomedical and tissue engineering applications.
We also design supramolecular gels from amino acids and short peptides, creating innovative soft materials with applications in drug delivery, wound healing, and environmental remediation. Our work in protein fibrillation and its inhibition by natural molecules aims to uncover therapeutic strategies for diseases such as Alzheimer's and Type II diabetes. Additionally, we develop a new class of collagen peptide-based surfactants, exploring their unique self-assembling properties for biomedical and industrial uses.
Through our interdisciplinary approach, we strive to bridge the gap between chemistry and biology, developing functional biomaterials that address critical challenges in medicine and environmental science.
