The Seven Purposes of DKG

1. To unite women educators of the world in genuine spiritual fellowship.

2. To honor women educators who have given or who evidence a potential for

distinctive service in any field of education.

3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in education.

4. To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable

endeavors in the interests of education and women educators.

5. To endow scholarships to aide outstanding women educators in pursuing

graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators.

6. To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to

encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action.

7. To inform the membership of current economic, social, political, and educational

issues to the end that they may become intelligent functioning members of a

world society.

Area of focus: Membership

Objective: To strengthen the Gamma Psi chapter and share the mission of DKG.

Actions:

1. Provide time/opportunity to update member profiles on the DKG website.

2. Promote benefits of the society through practices for improving publicity (examples:

news articles, chapter bookmark/brochure, social media)

3. Recognize the professional achievements of members through print and social media.

Area of focus: Global Awareness

Objective: To encourage utilization of resources on the International website.

Actions:

1. Continue member support of World Fellowship and other nationally adopted projects.

2. Link DKG and NCDKG websites in newsletters.

Area of Focus: Leadership Development

Objective: To promote leadership and give members opportunities to realize their

potential as leaders.

Actions:

1. Recognize women leaders such as scholarship/grant awardees, TOY, Rising Star, by

sharing with administrators, newsletters, and social media outlets.

2. Inform members of leadership opportunities within the local chapter through committee

involvement.

3. Actively support members who are in leadership roles.

Area of focus: Community Connections

Objective: To collaborate with community organizations to impact education in

Elkin and Yadkin County.

Actions:

1. Provide support for all school organizations in our area.

2. Engage a broader audience through social media.

3. Continue to support outreach projects and programs that impact our community needs.

Area of focus: Build Resources

Objective: To promote knowledge of the NCDKG and DKGIEF resources and

opportunities.
