One of the Key Tasks you will need to be able to perform on the Grade 12 Literacy Assessment (and at Post-Secondary, and for Scholarships, and, and, and....) is writing an essay in a limited amount of time.
- The purpose of this essay composition is to respond to a given prompt.
- You can agree or disagree with the topic.
- Your essay should have all of the following:
- introduction with clear thesis
- well-developed body paragraphs
- clear conclusion
- It should be 3-5 paragraphs long or about 500 words. This is a rough estimate; your ideas are much more important that the word count.
- Be sure to include specific examples to support your thesis.
- You may use ideas based on your own experience, the experience of others, your reading, your imagination, or from any aspect of your life.
- Assessment will be based on the Scoring Guide for Composition (6-point scale)
