"Powerless" (MMIWG)

WARNING: This quest features a music video that discusses the difficult topics of sexual abuse, homelessness, systemic racism, and prostitution. It may be upsetting for some viewers. However, the message is important, and this is why I've chosen to include it as a quest.
"Powerless" by Classified
Historically women, particularly those who are members of marginalized groups, have less power than others around them. This power imbalance is considered to be part of the reason many Indigenous women and girls have disappeared without any closure or justice for their families.
For this quest, you will be analyzing the imagery, symbolism, and message in the music video "Powerless" by Canadian musician Classified.
Your Task:
1. Watch the video linked above, and take notes on visual symbols, imagery, and message.
2. Watch the video again, this time take notes on the lyrics and words chosen by Classified to communicate his message about murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls.
3. Using a medium of your choice (essay, inforgraphic, podcast, graphic organizer, blog post), discuss the how and why Classified has selected these specific images to raise awareness of his message.
4. Identify and discuss PAPA (purpose, argument, persona, and audience) in this video. Use evidence to support your points.
EXTENSION:
The National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls has a mandate to raise awareness of crimes against Indigenous women and two-spirited individuals, while also helping this group regain power and feel honoured.
