For each of the quests in this unit, you will keep a journal of your responses to the poems you encounter.
It is recommended that you keep informal notes as you proceed While you read and re-view, jot down any impression and ideas that may be worthwhile. Use your Journal responses as opportunities to exercise your skills of observation and analysis and to think about different poetic devices. Later your responses will serve as a reference resource for your assignments.
Clearly there are no "correct" Journal entries. I will assess the quality of your observations and comments on the poetry and your understanding of the different forms of poems.
Please write in your own voice.
Interact with the poetry.
Don't be afraid to say what you think.
When you complete these quests, the Journal will be a record of your responses to the poetry. Feel free to use a variety of approaches.
How Do I Manage My Journal?
Add a Journal section to your personal Class Notebook. This Journal will be private; only you and I can access it. I will be reviewing your work and might post comments as necessary.
How Will My Journal Be Evaluated?
You must submit work of good quality to earn XP. Do not wait until the last minute to scribble down a few quick ideas.
I will assess your Journal entries based on the Journal Scoring Guide. You can use this rubric to help ensure you're adding enough detail and thought to your assignments.
