You will need to have read the short story "Test" in order to complete this quest as written. If you would like to adapt for a different story, please check with me (I will almost certainly say yes).
"Test'' is written from a limited omniscient point of view (the narrator reveals what Robert is thinking and feeling, but does not reveal what anyone else is thinking or feeling).
Instructions
You are going to rewrite the first section of the story [from the beginning, to the sentence "It had only seemed to drag on and on'' - about 1/2 of the way down the second page.]
Decide whether you are going to rewrite the section from:
an omniscient point of view (you would reveal what other characters, besides Robert, are feeling and thinking),
an objective point of view (you would tell the story in such a way that the reader could infer what the characters are thinking and feeling but you would NOT state what anyone is thinking and feeling, for example, an objective narrator would NOT write: "Robert Proctor was too wise to slam on the brakes.")
first person point of view (using "I/We"), OR
limited omniscient point of view BUT from the point of view of someone other than Robert.
Rewrite the section being sure to remain true to your chosen Point of View.
Your rewrite should be about 800 words long.
Submission
Submit your completed rewrite using the ASSIGNMENT: Point of View link on the main page of this section of the course.
Assessment
Here is a rubric that will be used to assess your Point of View rewrite. Naturally, you will be assigned XP for this quest (not a grade), so the rubric is for you (and me) to determine whether you are fully meeting expectations.
Be sure to explain if/why you require additional XP.
