Gamification, the process of using game design elements to inspire collaboration or competition among a group of people, is currently a hot topic in education. Classroom teachers try to gamify some or all of the elements in their classrooms to help capture the interest of their students and motivate them to learn more than they would in a traditional space. We were curious if it were possible to gamify the culture in our building and positively affect morale. While the game is still ongoing and our conclusions therefore tentative, it appears that it is possible--though not to the extent we had hoped--to positively affect the school climate and culture through gamification.
