When I downloaded the pcsx2-0.9.8-r4594-linux.tar.gz I extracted it in the home directory and run the launch_pcsx2_linux.sh file, it closed immediately. When I open GNOME-terminal and typed in: ./launch_pcsx2_linux.sh I got the following error:

One just download it from the pcsx2 site, extract it in your home folder, and run the launch_pcsx2_linux.sh(X86 only). here is the pcsx2.desktop file save it in /usr/share/applications/ or in your /home/your username/.local/share/applications/. Edit the file, where it says your username change it to your actual username, and the actual path to the binary.

If the PCSX2 doesn't work for you, try the pcsx2-unstable package. One thing you need to do, when configuring PCSX2, is add BIOS files. You will get a window that asks for these BIOS files. You will need to provide legal BIOSes yourself!

PCSX2 is a full-throttle desktop emulator for Sony PlayStation 2. It puts any PlayStation 2 game on your PC with the added appeal of getting to set up your graphics configurations as you see fit -- often far surpassing original visuals.

With over 1500 games available -- all of which run seamlessly -- you'll find this catalog is ripe with compatible titles. That said, there are a few games with the occasional hiccup, but all in all PCSX2 has proven a very successful PlayStation 2 rendition for PCs. Best of all is that you can actually attain a gaming experience that is visually far more compelling than its original thanks to the tweaks you can make on graphics to display them to your own liking; provided that your PC set up can handle it -- that is. Among visual options that you can toggle you'll find there are a wide array of possibilities: reset resolution, rendering systems, shaders, texture filters, and much more. All in all, PCSX2 is by far the finest PlayStation 2 emulator out there today, a welcome title for any diehard PS2 fan who's in the market for a way to migrate their retro games onto today's PCs.

When ESC is pressed to exit, the game closes with the PCSX2 emulator game selection screen left open on top of BigBox which stops BigBox. Pressing ESC a second time is required to close the emulator so BigBox can continue. I tried an alt + F4 script and that doesn't work either. Is there a script that will close the game and the emulator at the same time? Thanks for the help.

Can someone walk me through how to do this and then what to push on my controller. I can't seem to get it to work. When i put the -batch line in, the emulator stops loading. I would like to control everything from a controller instead of a keyboard.

I'd tell you to look here, except that none of those answers go into just how much work it is to get an emulator running smoothly (on less than stellar hardware. If you're complaining about only getting 35+ fps... then go away ;)

Repeat this with the video settings (the audio will stutter if the CPU gets bogged down. While it's unlikely that your GPU is the bottle neck, being that it's an emulator, absolutely everything has to go through the CPU).

I searched around for how to change internal emulator resolution for PS2 and I found that it can be done by changing the upscale_multiplier value in the /userdata/system/configs/PCSX2/inis/GSdx.ini file. By default this value is 1. I set it to 3 or 4 to have somehow a 720p or 1080p rendering.

There is a much easier way.

Just press F1 on a connected Keyboard, when in ES Menu.

Then navigate to Applications and open pcsx2-config.

And then go to Config, Video (GS), Plugin Settings... and there you can set Internal Resolution to 2x or 3x for example (and there are a few other settings that can change graphic quality as well. But be aware, that you will need a very performant PC for better graphics and some settings may cause issues (graphical glitches) with some games).

Hello. I had a PlayStation2 some years ago with some games but the memory card and controllers have broken.

Today I wanted to emulate some of my games in my PC.

I got two problems with the PCSX2 emulator:

1. No audio works. Just sometimes it works (and I don't know when).

2. The disk inserted into the PC is read from Arch (i.e. mounted, can see its files and folders) but PCSX2 can't find the ROM. When I try enabling Linuz ISO CDVD plugin it gives me an error in the log:

PS2's Euphoria engine made even making an emulator a pain in the rear, from what I remember people saying back in the day. Sony used it as an excuse for not having ps2 reverse-compatibility on the ps3 (there was significant doubt about this from fans though) at the time.

This article will show you how to install and setup the PCSX2 emulator onLinux, more specifically, the latest Mint release; although, itworks just as well on Windows, and probably even better. We will do a native install and not use WINE. We will focus on the trickier steps, like BIOS firmware, controller configs andsuch. We will not be doing any game optimization, graphics improvements or similar. My experience with PSP2games, game sources, free downloads, or anything of that sort is extremely limited. However, when it comes toLinux, I can surely help you, and that's what we will do today. Afterwards, it's up to you to get the games, tweak them and play them.

There are several ways you can install the emulator. You can manually download the package from the officialsite, install a handful of library dependencies and then try to run the program. I would advise against it.Instead, I would recommend using unofficial PPA repositories to get all the needed content. Now, this means youare probably limited to the Ubuntu family, but this should get you startednicely.

The first time you run the program, you will need to configure your emulator. In a sense, it's similar toworking with virtualization software, like VirtualBox, or maybe the DOSBox game emulator. If you're familiar with those, you'll get along just fine.

And now you can fire up the emulator. If all is well, it should run and show the debug console near the mainwindow, which you can close later on if you find it too distracting visually. Something like this:

Now, it's time to configure the program some more. Under Config, you can find all sorts of settings. You canalso edit your plugins, your hardware drivers, change key bindings, and other options. For example, you willwant Onepad for Linux. Then, you can also tweak the way the emulator runs, hopefully adding some extra juice toyour games.

PCSX2 emulator is a handy tool. However, if you expected it will bring free games to your doorstep, you will bedisappointed. The program does not replace the need for a valid copy of your own BIOS firmware from theconsole, as well as games. So the emulator is there for your convenience, not to help you with the financialrecession.

I'd like to use an Arduino Duemilanove as a PS2 keyboard emulator, that I can plug into a laptop. I would need to know the electrical connections, although I could gut an old PS2 keyboard as a starting point and maybe drive its internal electronics. I assume that would require generating some kind of matrix of input values, in place of the physical keyboard.

I have serious problems with Dolphin. In both my notebook and Steam deck (Windows) I run version 5.0 with high DirectX12 settings without problems. While on Rog Ally I get crashes after few seconds. I've also tried the most up-to-date versions of Dolphin. I think the gpu drivers just can't get it to work decently... Has anyone come across what I say? I also uninstalled and reinstalled DirectX. I can't believe I can get games to run on Steam Deck with all graphics settings maxed out and on Rog Ally it doesn't work. I think I will buy a steam deck again. The graphics settings I set are 8x SSAA anti-aliasing, 16X Anisotropic Filtering. I tried different configurations also lowering the screen resolution and eliminating the graphic improvements. I can't get it to work, the dolphin emulator stops working and freezes the whole system with a white then black screen and finally closes after a few seconds. Sometimes I have to force shutdown. I have the exact same problem with the PCSX2 emulator.

I tried cleaning by installing all the existing amd drivers, I tried with bios 317 and 319. I also installed the most recent drivers, I tried both with and without power supply, the result doesn't change, it's absurd that it can't work on Rog Ally DirectX12 on these emulators while for games triple yes! I just have to go back with my steam deck if it doesn't fix, because with steam deck and with my other devices I have no problems. 0852c4b9a8
