Breathing. When we deal with anxiety we see physiological responses: We start to hyperventilate, our heart rate goes up, start sweating, and racing thoughts continue. Breathing is one of the few things in our control.
When dealing with depression and grief, seeking out support from friends and family, and professional help from counseling can be the best solution.
Dan's Most Practical Strategy:
Box Breathing - "A powerful but simple relaxation technique that aims to return breathing to its normal rhythm after a stressful experience. It may help clear the mind, relax the body, and improve focus (Boyle & Stinson, 2022)."
