Learn about GWE's Vision & Mission
Our vision is to be the clear best choice for community-based basketball tournaments in Arizona. Where teams along with the families and fans that fuel them feel welcomed and valued. We are committed to Keeping Basketball in the Neighborhood through providing an elite platform for youth athletes to break ankles, not their families' bank. Building a brighter future for our athletes and our local communities.
Our mission is dedicated to cultivating high-level, organized fresh competition and connecting communities through youth basketball tournaments in Arizona. As a grassroots, local family-driven organization, we prioritize the people, the sport, and the AZ hoop community above all else, ensuring that every event is a high quality celebration of basketball’s power to unite, teach and inspire.
For GWE's Founder, Kaimen Slay, basketball has always been more than a game, it’s been a way of life, a builder of character, and a bridge between communities.
An Arizona native with deep roots in both Tucson and Phoenix, Kaimen grew up on the local courts and rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a 5A State Champion in High School and a college basketball player. After hanging up his jersey, he found a new passion: creating opportunities for the next generation. Over the past decade, Kaimen has directed premier basketball events across the country for thousands of teams, learning firsthand what makes youth basketball thrive, and what can hold it back.
After seeing too many tournaments lose touch with the heart of the game, Kaimen founded Game Winner Events to change the narrative & experience of youth hoops. His vision is simple but powerful: to bring basketball back to its roots as a fun, competitive, community-building outlet for all young athletes, and families regardless of background.
Driven by a belief in breaking down barriers and building something lasting for the community, Kaimen is committed to Keeping Basketball in the Neighborhood. One game, one team, and one family at a time.
