[Galaxy formation and evolution, Interacting galaxies,

Kinematical and morphological evolution, large scale environment]

My research interest lies in the formation and evolution of galaxies. I use cosmological simulations to understand the effect of environment on the formation and evolution of galaxies. I also do simulations of isolated and interacting galaxies using powerful supercomputers to investigate their kinematical and morphological evolution. Apart from simulations, sometimes, I use archival observations for my research.

Structure Formation

This video shows the growth of the structure (Universe) in the FLAMINGO cosmological simulations. In this video every point is a galaxy. In the last, video shows how does Universe look like at present time.

Vertical Breathing in the MW

This videos shows the vertical breathing motion in the Milky Way like galaxy during fly-by interactions. Using these simulations, we investigated the effect of tidal interactions on the excitation of breathing motion, nature of the tidally induced spiral arms, and connection of vertical breathing motion observed in the Milky Way with the spiral arms.

Bar Buckling and BP/X bulge

This videos shows the bar buckling event in the Milky Way like galaxy. Using these simulations, we investigated the effect of dark matter shape/distribution on bar formation, bar buckling events, and bar thickening to form a BP/X structures.

Galaxy Fly-bys

This videos shows the fly-by interaction of two disk galaxies. Using these simulations, we investigated the disk thickening, classical and pseudo bulge evolution, and formation and evolution of spiral arms in the Milky Way like disk galaxies.
