Living and working in Recife
Recife is the state capital of Pernambuco, located in the Northeast of Brazil, with a tropical monsoon climate of dry and wet seasons. Recife is famously known for its vibrant and diverse cultural heritage, resulting in multiple manifestations that can be experienced throughout the year (e.g., Festa de São João, Carnival, Frevo, Maracatu, Capoeira, Coco, etc.). The Department of Oceanography at the Federal University of Pernambuco has a small vessel for educational and research purposes (Ciência do Mar IV) and access to marine protected areas for the study of coastal coral reef ecosystems (CEPENE).
Opportunities
The laboratory and facilities of the Department of Oceanography offer opportunities to realize internships, graduate, master and PhD projects for students from Brazil and abroad. If you are interested in joining the group, please send an e-mail to Marius providing a cover-letter, CV and contact information for two references.
Postgraduate and postdoc opportunities: Applications for Master, PhD and Post-Doc projects are welcome and we can provide lab-space and basic consumables. If you have a compelling idea that is aligned with our research areas, I encourage you to get in contact and explore the potential of developing your personal research proposal.
