Upcoming Dates

December 31st, 2025: School Spelling Bees and Homeschool Association Bees MUST be registered through Scripps to participate in the Region 3 Spelling Bee.

January 30th, 2026: System Spelling Bees Completed (in person or online)

February 7th, 2026: Region Qualifier Form(s) sent to Region 3 Spelling Bee Consultant.

February 28th, 2026: GAE Region 3 Spelling Bee (in-person).

March 7th, 2026: Alternate Weather date-- this will only be used if there is inclement weather on Feb. 28th. The GAE Spelling Bee will determine if this date is needed only if there is any weather issue on February 27th.

March 20th, 2026: GAE State Spelling Bee-- Invitation ONLY @ Georgia State University.

May/June 2026: Scripps National Spelling Bee

Date: Saturday, February 28th

Location: Barrow County School System District Office

179 W. Athens Street

Winder, GA 30680

9:45-10:00 AM Speller Check-in and Advocate Check in

10:00 AM Oral Spelling Competition Begins

11:00 AM Restroom Break (no contact)

Spellers are expected to stay the full time until the Spelling Bee is complete.

Please limit the persons accompany the speller to no more than 3 so that everyone may enjoy their speller.

Please remember there is no recording or photography during the Oral spelling. All cell phones and electronic devices must be kept off.
