Governor Mann Celebrates Pride Month in Commonwealth

Raleigh

June 1st, 2022

Today the Commonwealth of Greater Appalachia will honor the Commonwealth's LGBT Community. Under the Goog Administration Greater Appalachia has been a leader in LGBT Rights, going as far as to enshrine them in our Constitution. It cannot be said enough, the real strength of this Nation is our Diversity. Time and time again forces have joined together to stop the endless progress our nation makes in becoming more accepting and open minded about peoples, and they have failed every attempt. In 1776, when our Founding Fathers separated us from the British Empire, this nation was made with the intention of serving only straight White males, in 2022, we welcome all peoples from all walks of life without question. It is with this that we have become stronger and stronger as a country as time has gone by.

When a riot broke out in Lower Manhattan in 1969 at the quiet Stonewall Inn, society viewed these rioters as degenerates breaking the law and lashing out against law enforcement for doing their jobs, now we see them as heroes they are. 53 years have passed since the Stonewall Riots, and it is thanks to those brave men and women that America is a nation where you are allowed to love who you want to love and be who you want to be without fear of prosecution and oppression. Mostly.

The fight for Civil Rights never ends, bigotry is never defeated, it only goes into hiding, until it feels safe enough to strike. We cannot become complacent with Civil Rights, it cannot be emphasized enough, that is why Pride is celebrated annually. There will never be a time when victory has been achieved over bigotry and we can stop fighting, we must work to enshrine the rights of all peoples in this country more and more, until going back is unthinkable. The LGBT Community still face issues, particularly Queer Youth. Let me be clear, to all LGBT Youth in the Commonwealth, you are loved, you are seen, you are respected, and the Governor is on your side.
