I really enjoy immersing myself in nature to relax! Besides the beauty of natural landscapes, I also like to spend my time forming connections with animals. I am a person who enjoys her own quiet time and spending it with animals really puts me at ease. I do so by spending time visiting farms, museums, wildlife centres or even spending time with my own pets. My favourite part about animal encounters is the bonds that we can build by trying to understand each other. I get really intrigued when animals have certain mannerisms to try to connect with us especially since we are of two different species and yet we both try our best to bond. To me, we ourselves are interdependent on animals since they provide us with so many benefits such as food and they can also help us reduce stress; and of course, it is also our responsibility to preserve the animal well-being by protecting animal welfare.
I go more in-depth on more of my animal encounters in my mini-blog that can be accessed here: www.behance.net/gabbychongce87
Below are some of my favourite moments.
Pictures from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum
The grasshoppers look like fairies to me and I was surprised by these heart-shaped shells! So pretty!!
Camel riding experience in Doha.
From my visit to the Ostrict Farm in Malaysia
First time holding a hermit crab! It was so tiny
I really love this picture, it looks like a toad meeting!
I also have short written reflections regarding animal welfare that can be accessed here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10Iw9r5CK9IwhWHizb6LURkz2iWUT4owc_oRtoIcCiZU/edit?usp=sharing
Recommended to access with the Google Docs app or website on desktop to prevent the pictures from being blurry.
One of my favourite hobbies besides exercising and having my own mini karaoke sessions is drawing! Drawing allows me to express myself when I am overwhelmed with emotions but I do it for fun as well. Here are some of my drawings I've done over the years.
Here we have a watercolour attempt of a bird sitting on a branch which was done back when I was in secondary 1.
And also a sketch collage of some of my favourite sea animals.
I also really enjoyed sketching rabbits, one of them is actually a sketch of my late bunny, Clover <3
Of course besides sketching animals, I also really like to come up with my own sketches! Recently, I like the idea of sketching using colour pencils as I am unable to erase the mistakes, and the sketches are often asymmetrical.
This is the most recent sketch that I drew when I felt tired and drained.
