In this unit, students undertake the challenge of investigating a fish kill. Students analyze data about the cycling of nutrients in the environment, conduct water quality testing, and use evidence to explain what happened to the lake. Students apply what they have learned throughout the unit in a culminating project where they explore ways to reduce the impact of human behavior on the environment.
In this unit, students will learn about the interacting systems that make up the human body. They will then work in groups to create their own original investigation plans that can be used to determine the effect of exercise on homeostasis in the human body. The unit will culminate with students constructing models to explain the changes they observed during their investigations.
