Aviation Program!
At Morrow High School, we proudly stand as one of the select few high schools in Georgia that extend the unique opportunity for students to enroll in our Honors Ground Private Pilot Ground School program. This exceptional course has been meticulously crafted to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required for success in the FAA private pilot flight and FAA examinations.
Specifically, our course delves into the fundamental principles of the aviation environment, basic aircraft systems, navigation techniques, flight planning, and the intricacies of physiology. It is crucial to note that this program was conceived with a clear commitment to guiding and empowering minority youth, ensuring they stay on a positive and promising trajectory.
The visionary founder, Omar Brock, has taken this dedication a step further by establishing the Brock Aviation Flight School—a holistic educational and social flying club. This initiative not only supports his dream but also aligns with the Foundation's mission of educating minority youth, coupled with the provision of free or reduced-cost flight training.
Currently, the Brock Foundation is expediting a Test Program at Morrow High School, a transformative initiative designed to shape Cadets from being Student Pilots to achieving the esteemed status of Commercial Pilots by the time they graduate high school. This undertaking represents a revolutionary paradigm shift in aviation education, as we strive to level the playing field, ensuring that our minority youth can proudly don airline uniforms in their early twenties.
Remarkably, from the inaugural test group in the first year, only three Cadets demonstrated exceptional commitment and aptitude, successfully passing the FAA Private Pilot Written Exam and obtaining their 1st Class FAA Medicals. This achievement is a testament to their dedication and perseverance.
It is essential to emphasize that this unparalleled opportunity is not bestowed lightly; it must be earned through dedication and hard work. Additionally, since this course is an integral part of the AFJROTC program, aspiring students must first join ROTC and then undergo a rigorous selection process to potentially secure a place in this esteemed class. Your dream of becoming a pilot is within reach, but it demands your unwavering commitment and determination.
