G2L Aims is all about considering and facing the world's biggest issues, and noticing how they have impacts locally, as well as on a global scale.
At the inaugural G2L Aims Conference we will be doing just that, sustaining a particular focus on how education can work towards solving the issues our societies face.
We will pay close attention to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to highlight the areas in which we face our greatest challenges.
The conference programme has been designed to be as engaging as possible for all participants. It features a range of speakers from some of the organisations at the forefront of the effort – directly or indirectly – to achieve the SDGs. Each will have a particular focus on how they use education in their work.
Throughout the weekend, the students will be split into groups in order to complete the group project. They will work to plan segments of a lesson to be presented when back at school, which should incorporate information and examples from the lecture programme given. The aim is for the eventual collaborative lesson, which will be presented on the final morning, to be as creative and engaging as possible.
Part of the programme includes a trip into Oxford. As one of the world's most historic centres of learning, it is hoped that the trip into the city will inspire the minds of the future. This trip will likely include a visit to the Ashmolean Museum.
There will also be time for socialising built into the programme, as one of the most important aspects of the conference is forging connections across our family of schools.
