Rya Buckley

Author of IBO Blog's "Fireside Chat Unites Generations of Students"

"I’m grateful for the skills I developed and the friendships that I made in St. Francis Xavier’s IB programme. The programme challenged me by making me an active participant in the disciplines I was learning: instead of just reading plays and science textbooks, I was analyzing literature and learning how to implement the scientific method. I became a more critical thinker and a more independent learner, which prepared me for university. I also made lifelong friends who love learning and challenge me."

Rya graduated from the FX IB Programme in 2017 and will soon be graduating from McMaster University with a degree in Biology and Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour. She was recently accepted into the School and Clinical Child Psychology M.A. program at the University of Toronto and will be heading there in the fall.
