My name is Albert Madinya. I am a left-handed, Spanish speaking, Taylor Swift music loving, aspiring mathematician student here at FAU. I was born in the Bronx, N.Y. by South American parents. I moved to Florida when I was 11 years old. At the age of 26 I decided to go to college. So far I've managed to obtain both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mathematics here at FAU. I am currently working on my doctoral degree under the guidance of my Ph.D. advisor Dr. Papiya Bhattacharjee.
Wai-Ting Lam, Ph.D., is an NSF postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Florida Atlantic University. Her research mainly focuses on problems in celestial mechanics, including the orbital dynamics of irregularly shaped asteroids and comets.
Lam's love of mathematics goes back to her undergraduate studies and her research in celestial mechanics and space mission design during an internship at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. While growing as an educator, she has been developing a strong research program, including an international network of collaborators in Italy, Mexico, and the United States.
Noah Corbett is a doctoral candidate in FAU's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, studying computational dynamical systems. His research includes developing methods that employ functional-analytic techniques and computer-assisted proofs to calculate connecting orbits in chaotic systems of ordinary differential equations and state-dependent delay differential equations. He also serves as President of the FAU AMS Student Chapter and is a co-organizer for the Graduate Student Seminar. Outside of mathematics, Noah enjoys drinking copious amounts of coffee and playing/listening to jazz music. He plays both piano and trombone, and is currently the lead trombone player for the FAU Jazz Orchestra.
Jorge Gonzalez obtained his Mathematics PhD from our department in 2020 with Mireles James and Necibe Tuncer as advisors. He was later awarded the NSF Mathematical Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to continue his work at Georgia Tech. He is now back as a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Biological Sciences working under the supervision of Dean Valery Forbes
