APPENDIX D - PRIZE FUND
GUIDELINES
Donations - Request donations from companies. Ask for hole sponsorship, ask for program book advertisements, ask for items such as towels, golf balls, tees, ball makers. Ask the golf course for plastic name plates to attach to golf bags, Ask next year’s tournament host to advertise.
Set up the Prize Fund – Collect the prize fees paid by golfers from the FWGAD Treasurer. The host shall raise a minimum of $2000 for the prize fund from local fund raising.
Handicap Prizes – The handicap prizes shall be part of the cash prize. Scratch and handicap the cash prize for first and second round shall be split equally for cash prize payout.
Payout – The host shall work with the FWGAD Board to determine the prize payout to golfers. All golfers will receive no less than the amount of the prize fee ($50). All prizes are to be paid in cash or check. Gift certificates or merchandise will not be considered.

Formula for First and Second Rounds - Cash Prize
Host’s Fundraising
Split into 2 equal cash prizes for First and Second Rounds.
Cash prize divided by the number of registered golfers equals $ per golfer
$ per golfer times number of golfers from division equals total cash prize available
Split total cash prize available equally for both scratch and handicap scores
Example
Host raises $3000
$3000/2 = $1500 per day
$1500/60 registered golfers = $25 per golfer
$25 x 20 golfers in Open Division = $500
$500/2 (Scratch and Handicap) = $250 for Scratch and $250 for Handicap
Formula for 3 Rounds Total - Cash Prize
$50 Cash Prize Each Golfer Paid
$50 Cash Prize x number of registered golfers from each division equals total cash prize available
Split total cash prize available equally for both scratch and handicap scores
Example
Cash Prize Golfer Paid = $50
50 x 20 golfers in Open Division = $1000
Split $1000 equally = $500 for scratch and $500 for handicap
Prize Distribution for First and Second Rounds
Each division there shall be cash prize payout for both scratch and handicap winners. The funds will come from the host's minimum fundraising of $2000.
For each of the first two days of the tournament, the matrix for prize distribution for both gross and net shall be split equally.
Prize Distribution for the Total of Three Rounds
Each division there shall be cash prize payout for both scratch and handicap winners. The funds will come from a cash prize each golfer paid $50.
In each division 50% of total golfers will receive cash prizes, using a cash prize matrix to determine the amount each golfer receives.
The cash prize each golfer wins will earn a cash prize from either scratch or handicap whichever pays more. Golfers cannot win prizes from both scratch and handicap.
Format for First and Second Rounds
For each of the first two days of the tournament, arrange the golfers into groups, as equal as possible, based on which division golfers play. Each group will have no more than 4 golfers.
Establish contests such as closest to the pin (CTPs), longest drive, and skins. Open, Senior, and Super Senior/Women will rotate three (3) different par 3 for CTPs. The fee for the contest is separate from the prize fund and is optional for golfers to participate.
Format for Final Round
Flights will be established in each division. First flight will be called Championship Flight. Next flight will be called First Flight. Each flight will be limited to 10 golfers.
First place winner of flight shall receive an award.
In the last round, 4th CTP will be added and a cash prize of $50 will be funded by FWGAD.
Polo Shirt – Host shall purchase a polo shirt with golf course’s logo on the shirt from the pro shop to the winner of the Open Division and present during the banquet.
Hole-in-One – FWGAD shall contribute $200 to any golfer who makes an ACE on a par-3 hole.
Additional Funds - Host may add extra cash prizes to first, second, or third round and any other type of prizes other than the listed prizes above, if they desire. The host will require FWGAD’s approval.
