Niam Yaraghi
Dr. Niam Yaraghi is an Associate Professor of Business Technology at Miami Herbert Business School at the University of Miami where he also holds a secondary appointment as an Associate Professor of Health Management & Policy. He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution's Center for Technology Innovation. Niam's research is focused on the economics of health information technologies. In particular, Niam studies the business models and policy structures that incentivize interoperability and sharing of health information among patients, providers, payers and regulators. Niam's research has appeared in leading business journals including Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Production and Operations Management, as well as top-tier health policy and informatics journals including Journal of American Medical Informatics Association, and Milbank Quarterly.
Reza Mousavi
Dr. Reza Mousavi is an Assistant Professor at McIntire School of Commerce at University of Virginia. He has expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and business analytics. His research topics are related to the societal impacts and economics of social media, AI and business analytics, user-generated content, and healthcare information systems. He uses machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP), along with econometrics, to identify quasi-experimental settings and study the underlying relationships among the constructs of interest. Professor Mousavi’s work has appeared in Information Systems Research; Journal of Management Information Systems; and Journal of the Association for Information Systems. His work has been presented at international and national conferences such as CIST, WITS, WISE, ICIS, HICSS, and AMCIS. He won the best paper award (research in progress) at AMCIS.
Professor Mousavi has taught advanced AI and business analytics, research methods, computer programming, and project management at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels. Professor Mousavi has worked with leading consulting firms on a variety of data science projects. He was also Lead Data Scientist at State Farm Insurance Co. before joining academia.
