I specialize in teaching beginner to early intermediate level students who are between the ages of 5-13. Students have the option of learning either harp or piano!
Young students enjoy my fun, positive, and forgiving approach to learning! I cater individually to each student’s needs, and craft specific and attainable lesson goals. I provide them with the step-by-step instruction they need to support a feeling of accomplishment.
My ultimate goal as a teacher is to instill a lifelong love for music and learning!
I believe in setting a well-rounded foundation in music for all of my students.
I carefully balance my lessons to develop skills in:
note reading
rhythm
listening
technique
musicality
theory
ensemble
performance
composition
creativity
In addition to using method books to build a solid music foundation, I focus on maximizing the FUN factor from the very start - through an interactive and creative learning approach. I have a full library of games and activities where students practice and play with music theory concepts, aural skills, rhythm, composition, and improvisation. In my experience, this style of learning leads to a fuller retention rate and students looking forward to their lessons!
Every few weeks, I host studio socials to encourage and motivate students in a fun and social setting. This ultimately helps build a sense of community - the kind of community which supports and instills a lifelong love for music and all the benefits that come along with it.
Studio Recitals are held seasonally each year for students to have the opportunity to perform solo and ensemble music for family and friends. All performances are in a relaxed and supportive environment for students to build their confidence in performance and musicianship.
