I am interested in developing synthetic chemical systems that contain 'life-like' features to better understand how the first living entities on Earth may have evolved. In addition, in the lab, we are also interested in the dynamics of functional RNAs (aptamers, ribozymes) and developing strategies for studying and evolving them in complex environments.
Before joining Ashoka, I worked as an independent Simons-Campus Fellow at the Simons Centre of the Study of the Living Machines Bangalore (hosted by Dr. Shashi Thutupalli), National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS). I did my postdoctoral study at ESPCI Paris (École supérieure de physique et de chimie industrielles de la Ville de Paris), France (with Dr. Andrew D. Griffiths and Dr. Philippe Nghe). I received PhD from Heidelberg University in Germany, under the supervision of Dr. Andres Jäschke, and master's degree (M.Sc. Biotechnology) from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay, India).
