Department of Physiology, University of Fukui School of Medical Sciences

福井大学医学部は、1980年に福井医科大学として開学しました。統合生理学（旧・生理学第二）教室は、初代教授・根来英雄先生により創設され、二代目・樋口隆教授のもとで発展し、神経内分泌を中心とした研究・教育が行われてきました。三代目の松岡達教授は、心臓生理学を中心とするシステム生理学の研究に取り組み、教室の新たな研究領域を切り拓きました。

2025年4月1日、四代目教授として安部力が着任いたしました。現在は、講師、助教、大学院生が一丸となり、「宇宙医学を含む前庭系や循環器系を中心とした、マクロからミクロにわたる末梢－中枢連関生理機能解析プロジェクト」と、「誤嚥性肺炎を対象にした神経－免疫系を駆使して臨む健康寿命延伸プロジェクト」の推進に取り組んでいます。

The Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Fukui was originally established in 1980 as Fukui Medical University. The Department of Integrative Physiology (formerly the Second Department of Physiology) was founded by the first professor, Dr. Hideo Negoro, and further developed under the leadership of the second professor, Dr. Takashi Higuchi, focusing on neuroendocrinology in both research and education. The third professor, Dr. Toru Matsuoka, expanded the department’s research scope by pioneering work in systems physiology, particularly in cardiac physiology. On April 1, 2025, Dr. Chikara Abe was appointed as the fourth professor. Currently, with dedicated efforts from faculty members, including lecturers, assistant professors, and graduate students, the department is advancing two major projects:

• A comprehensive analysis of peripheral-central physiological integration, focusing on vestibular and cardiovascular systems—including space medicine applications—from macro to micro levels.

• A neuro-immune-based initiative aimed at extending healthy life expectancy, with particular emphasis on aspiration pneumonia.
