FUEL.SH Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2 June 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the FUEL.SH iOS application handles information when you use it. We designed FUEL.SH to be local-first: your fueling history, vehicle details, photos, and notes are stored on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
SUMMARY
- We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not require an account.
- Your fuel logs, vehicles, photos, and notes are stored only on your device.
- When you choose to use AI features, the minimum necessary fuel data is sent to our AI provider to answer that one request. The provider does not use it to train models.
- You can stop using AI features at any time, or supply your own AI key.
INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE TO THE APP, STORED ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE
The app saves the following on your device using Apple Core Data:
- Vehicle details you enter, such as nickname, make, model, year, fuel grade, tank capacity, and preferred units.
- Fill-up entries you create, including date, volume, price per unit, total, odometer, station name, trip type, partial flag, and notes.
- Maintenance reminders you create, such as oil change, tire rotation, and air filter intervals.
- Receipt photos you import or capture, if you use receipt scanning.
- App preferences such as units, currency, and appearance settings.
This information never leaves your device unless you take an action that involves it, such as asking the AI a question, exporting a file, or sharing a fill-up.
PERMISSIONS
FUEL.SH may request the following iOS permissions. Each is optional. The app continues to work without them.
- Camera. Used only when you tap the receipt scanner. Photos taken in the scanner are processed on your device and saved to your fuel log on your device.
- Photo Library. Used only when you choose to attach an existing receipt photo to a fill-up. The photo is copied into your fuel log on your device.
- Location. Used only when you tap "Use current location" while creating a fill-up, to auto-fill the nearest gas station name. Your coordinates are not stored; only the station name you confirm is saved.
AI FEATURES
The app includes optional AI insights, AI anomaly detection, "Ask AI" chat, narrative report generation, and fuel-grade comparison.
When you invoke any AI feature:
- The app sends a small text payload describing your recent fills to the AI provider over a TLS-encrypted connection.
- The payload contains numeric fuel data, vehicle make and model, units, currency, and the question you typed. It does not contain photos, location coordinates, or any other identifier.
- We use Anthropic as the AI provider by default. Anthropic processes the request to generate a response, and per their commercial terms does not use API data to train their models. See https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy for Anthropic's policies.
- If you prefer to use your own API key, enable "Use my own AI key" in Settings. In that case the request is sent directly from your device using your key and your contract with that provider.
If you never use an AI feature, no fuel data is sent off your device by the app.
PURCHASES
If you purchase FUEL.SH Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple via StoreKit. We do not receive your name, address, or payment details. Apple shares only a transaction identifier with the app so it can verify your subscription status. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Because your data lives on your device:
- Deleting a fill-up, vehicle, or photo inside the app removes it immediately and permanently.
- Tapping "Delete All Data" in Settings erases every fuel record, vehicle, insight, and receipt photo from the app, after a confirmation prompt.
- Deleting the FUEL.SH app from your device removes everything FUEL.SH stored on that device.
We have nothing on our servers to delete because we do not store your data on any server.
CHILDREN
FUEL.SH is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from them. If you believe a child has used the app and has questions, please contact us at the email below.
INTERNATIONAL USERS
FUEL.SH is offered worldwide. Because the app is local-first, your information stays in your country on your device. If you invoke an AI feature, your request is processed by the AI provider on servers operated by that provider, which may be located in the United States or other countries.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and post the new version on this page. Material changes will also be summarised in the app's "What's New" sheet on first launch after the update.
