FSK Krav Maga Guidelines
Attend class regularly.
This will keep you on track, and your personal safety is worth at least that much.
Listen to the Instructions.
This is for your safety and the safety of your training partners. Going off course to “play” with something else during class can lead to injury. Students are welcome to stay a few minutes after class to try new things, discuss alternatives, and show differences to instructors.
Drink lots of water.
Stay hydrated throughout class. It will help you feel better the next morning!
Ask questions.
If you are unsure or confused about anything always ask! In most cases, others are thinking the same thing.
Communicate.
We strongly emphasize communicating with the instructor or your partner. Let them know if they are going too hard or too light or if you have an injury and need to make modifications.
Dress appropriately.
Wear shorts, yoga pants, or similar clothing that allows you to move in the way you need to. Oversized clothing, strings, and accessories can be a danger to yourself and others. Very 'short' shorts should have compression shorts underneath. Please wear a T-shirt or tank top. Shirtless or sports bras only are not permitted.
Be a considerate partner.
A lot of our work in this class involves partnering up with a peer. Do wear deodorant (or similar) and refrain from wearing heavy perfume or cologne. Remove excessive jewelry as this can lead to injury. Students with exceptionally long nails will need to have them trimmed. If you work outside during the day and get dirty/dusty please take a quick shower before you come to class! Showers are available in our school. In the hot months bring a towel or change of t-shirt to stay dry.
Have fun.
Enjoy your time during class. Participate in the activities and don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get something right away. You will get there!
Krav Maga Dress Code / Equipment
A T-shirt and athletic training pants or shorts are recommended. Indoor shoes are allowed during training. Keep in mind that you will be moving around both standing and on the ground. So think about wearing clothing that will stay on, keep you covered, not get tangled, and will help you feel comfortable. In fact, it is more realistic.
For hygiene purposes, outdoor shoes are not allowed on the mats. Wrestling shoes or soft soled sneakers are fine. Groin protection for men is strongly recommended.
For level 2 and above you will need the following items: gloves, shin guards, headgear, and mouthpiece. Training gear and Krav Maga T-shirts can be purchased through FSK. See instructor for information.
