General Rules
Use of Space/Equipment
Authorized students may register an account by going to the WCOnline booking website to schedule a one-on-one SIM Lab session.
Only students scheduled for use of the simulators are allowed in the SIM Lab during their scheduled session.
If you need to cancel your session, you must do using the WCOnline booking system at least 12 hours in advance.
Observe all safety notices and emergency procedures inside the SIM Lab.
All students and staff are required to leave the Sim Lab clean and tidy. Please refrain from bringing any food or drink.
Treat all equipment with integrity. If you are unsure, ask the SIM Lab staff to make sure you are using it correctly.
Use caution to prevent dropping and breaking of any SIM Lab equipment.
Once your session is complete, please return all SIM Lab equipment to it’s proper location, or as instructed by the SIM Lab staff.
Refrain from sitting on the driving simulator when not in use.
Pre-Simulation
Do come prepared with your student ID and your assignment details.
Do arrive at least 5 minutes before your session.
Do check-in for your session using the tablet by the door.
Do be prepared to take notes after your simulation has ended.
Do remember that the SIM Lab staff is not evaluating your performance in the SIM Lab, they are only observing.
Do not make loud noise outside the Lab, as you may disrupt a simulation in progress.
Do not knock on the SIM Lab door. We will come and get you once you've checked-in.
Do not bring any recording devices, your phone will not be permitted in the simulation area.
Debriefing/Post-Simulation
Do take notes while everything is still fresh in your mind.
Do check in with yourself: how are you feeling?
Do take any self care pre-cautions you feel are necessary.
Do ensure that you have returned all equipment to your facilitator.
Do take all your belongings with you and keep the SIM Lab just as you found it.
Do not rush yourself.
The debriefing is meant to encourage students to reflect on the session, analyze their decisions, and express their feeling about the outcome. Questions you may expect during the debriefing:
How do you feel about how the simulation played out?
What do you think about your communication skills? Assessing the situation? Your actions?
What would you have done anything differently?
What would you do next time?
Code of Professional Conduct
The Student Code of Conduct is applicable in the SIM Lab.
Late students will only be allowed to complete their session at the discretion of the SIM Lab facilitators. Please refer to the Cancellation Policy for more details.
Any violations of the code of professional conduct will be passed on to students' instructor, Program Coordinator, and Associate Dean, where disciplinary measures will be considered.
